2. Eating with moderation, and fasting
3. Qiyām al-Layl (night prayer)
4. Turning to Allah in a desperate and needy fashion, in the early hours of the morning, before Fajr
5. Associating with righteous, good people

Summary: This khutbah reminds our noble listeners of the 4 factors that must be present in order for one to benefit from the Qur’ān and for its wisdom to be manifested in one’s life and experience. It then goes into a detailed reflection on the realities of this life and the next, based on two overwhelming verses from Sūrah al-Ḥadīd (Chapter 57:20-21), as well as a profound verse from Sūrah Āli ʿImrān (Chapter 3:14).
